“So far, we have been finishing workpieces manually. The growing need for perfect finishing has led us to a radical solution,” says Pavel Pardovský, supplier of CNC equipment and owner of Step-Four CZ.
Our customers require more and more perfect finishing of supplied parts. We try to fulfil every need and therefore used to take every element into hand and grind edges and remove burrs and dust using hand tools. This activity was very time consuming and physically demanding. It is not always possible to work with gloves, so it reflected on the strained hands of our colleagues. Even in terms of quality, manual work has its limits. With increasing demand, this situation became unsustainable and we started looking for equipment that would make this work easier.
With a clear aim to find equipment for the finishing of our workpieces, we attended the International Engineering Fair in Brno. We were planning to take a look at multiple options, compare them and select the best one. We immediately took interest in a grinding machine from Otec. At the fair, they presented aluminium polishing, which was not the material we needed, yet we agreed to test it on our workpieces. At that point we were not sure of the result, so we kept browsing at the fair and looked for alternative options to compare. We did not find any other equipment of this type at the fair. We could only hope that testing at Otec goes well.
Advantage, the company that represents German Otec in the Czech Republic, provided the testing of our workpieces, which were ground in various types of media at different time intervals. We liked the fact that they have a similar approach to customers as we do – friendly, creative, trying to find the right solution together with us. We were very happy to find the ideal solution. Based on the test results, we ordered the machine and media and set the correct settings.
Now we are excited, EF works perfectly. We no longer have to perform manual cleaning, which greatly helps our employees, and the result is excellent from a professional point of view – workpieces are perfectly finished, clean and all the same.
Despite the higher cost of the machine, we are sure that we made the right move that pushed us further and increased the professionalism of our work.
